The King James Version (KJV), which was initially printed in 1611, is one of the most popular versions of the Bible. Its poetic style has influenced English language and literature for hundreds of years. Some people feel that it’s old fashioned language can be difficult for modern readers to understand.
The New International Version (NIV) is much more recent, being first published in 1978. It contains much more modern language and is often used in modern churches and groups . It’s also popular among scholars.
The Revised Standard Version (RSV) is also a modern translation and is known for its scholarly accuracy and attention to detail. It was first published in 1950’s and is frequently used in research.
Some other versions include the New American Standard Bible (NASB), the New Living Translation (NLT), and the English Standard Version (ESV). Each volume has it’s own specific language and interpretation.
